3.    Wellness
4.    May cause

The Wizardry of Dr. Oz's Own Words

6/24/2014

Comments

On June 17th, in front of the Senate Commerce Committee's  subcommittee investigating weight loss fraud, those of us that watched, witnessed a REAL, never-seen-before, once-in-a-lifetime, MIRACLE from Dr. Oz...the simple truth.

Embedded in Dr. Oz's "flowery", defensive testimony in front of the committee were two simple questions posed by Senator Dean Heller.

Dr. Oz's two answers (rarely publicly spoken, simple truth) deserve to be echoed throughout the internet, in newspapers across the country, and should be part of a required printed and audible disclaimer (warning label) at the beginning and end of every Dr. Oz episode!

                        Simple Question #1

Senator Heller (to Dr. Oz):

"Do you believe there's a miracle pill out there?"

Dr. Oz:

"There's not a pill that's gonna help you long term lose weight and live the best life...without diet and exercise."

                       Simple Question #2

Senator Heller:

"What works for MOST people?"

Dr. Oz:

"What works for most people...is a diet based on real food...that comes out of the ground, looking the way it looks when you eat it, not been processed...with some physical activity.

Most of weight loss, I believe, is about the food choices you make.

Most of keeping your weight low is about the physical activity you engage in."

-----------------------------------------------

That's it.  Done!  Everything else that comes out of his mouth is for ratings (and everything that comes with it).

For the most part, getting weight loss fraud advice from Dr. Oz is like the 3 Pigs getting construction tips from the Wolf.

Enough already.

Here's the entire testimony...in case you missed it.  His "honesty" begins at roughly at 1:17:00 and continues for almost an entire 90 seconds.

Here's a most hilarious take on the testimony, by John Oliver.  Painfully accurate.  I love it!

Pill, Powders, & Mercola (Oh My)!

3/13/2014

Comments

Dr. Joseph Mercola is one controversial man. Personally, I am NOT a fan. I believe that he preys upon the gullible, vulnerable, easily moved by slick marketing conspiracy theorists of the health and nutrition world, building any distrust of medical science into a fertile field for his knight-in-shining-armor all natural solutions to every ill.

Here is Chicago Magazine's feature story on the man: "Dr. Mercola: Visionary or Quack?" My great disappointment is that the word "visionary" is even considered an option in describing the man. However, if "visionary" means...finding a crack in the seams of a vulnerable mind and exploiting it to successfully extract the most cash, then yes, he is a "visionary".

For your enjoyment, please also enjoy Dr. Stephen Barrett's Quackwatch article: "FDA Orders Dr. Joseph Mercola
to Stop Illegal Claims"

You can decide whether Mercola is a master marketer or a quack (with credentials).

Don't forget to read his disclaimer:
