But, for the longest time I've been battling Cheetos and cheddar fries, bacon & brisket, and the misleading claims of ANYONE trying to sell you coconut oil baked in bullshit.
I've known for some time that it is our overall eating pattern (below) that's what's killing us. Quite simply, Pollan was right. The best solution to eating is to "Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
Eat more GREEN and eat less YELLOW and you're on your way to healthier eating. It is THAT simple.
Any argument is a distraction. Enough battling to see which is the "healthiest food". Done. Case closed. Plants rock.
In my battles for good health and good information, I've found that our choices begin and end in our heads (brains)...and it's complicated...which is why it's so hard to change. This is a great discussion on Determinants of Food Choice. I recommend printing, saving, and sharing....with all those that think that "one size fits all" in terms of changing your own eating patterns. We're ALL different.
And, with that in mind...we get to the mind...and health.
I've learned along my research into "change" that sound mental health may be the key (or obstacle) to every other area of human health, from healthy choices and physical health to spiritual health, healthy relationships, optimal work performance and every other area of our lives.
And, lack of mental health (or presence of mental illness) seems NOT to be discussed as a mainstream topic. I hope to "mainstream" mental health (and mental illness). Mental illness should NOT be viewed, as it has been for so long, as merely a weakness.
I hope to inspire, enlighten, and give hope, wherever I can...to bring good health to the minds of my readers. It's so much easier to choose the apple over apple schnaaps when your "head" is in the right place.
You may have already noticed my shift in mission over my last several posts. If not, take a look back...and enjoy!
